Description: The Wanch is Hong Kong's longest running live music venue since 1987.

Prior to becoming The Wanch, the premises were occupied by the 'Diamond Bar' topless nightclub, whose 'business' was typical of Wanchai District after 1960s land reclamation. Subsequently, the Vietnam War brought girlie bars and the world of Suzie Wong to the area. This aspect of Wanchai's history is reflected in The Wanch's logo, which consists of Chinese brush lettering out over a red Chinese lantern.

The central area of the bar is styled on the Star Ferries that have plied the ever-narrowing waterway between Hongkong Island and the Kowloon peninsula since 1888. The west wall represents the elevation of a Hongkong tram and is even fitted with original tram seats. The east wall pays tribute to the films made in Hongkong during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, with original lobby posters and prints from classic movies including 'Ferry to Hongkong', 'Hongkong Affair' and 'Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing'.

It has been the home of live music in Hong Kong since 1987, offering original music showcase nights, the top local covers bands and jam sessions. There are live music every night, with no cover charge.

Directions: It is right between the Wanchai and Admiralty MTR station on the side street Jaffe Road near Fenwick Road.
