He is at the very heart of the new generation of Chinese avant-garde/indie rock musicians. this year flying to New York to take part in Glenn Branca’s famous guitar symphony recording with 100 guitarists.
In 2005 he formed White No.1, a septet that paid tribute to the early work of Glenn Branca, and White 2J, in which he played keyboards. Finally this year he formed White with Shenggy. Performed in the 1+ 20 (Nov 23, 2006). In 2007, Carsick Cars supported Sonic Youth in Europe, debut album released on Maybe Mars Records (Beijing). White and Shouwang individually toured in Europe, attended festivals such as Sonar, Full Pull, Frischzelle, etc. On November 25th, his debut record called Music for Films is released on Little Sound Records.
On November 20th, 2008, his EP Is It Real EP is released by Micro Mu Records.
In September 2009 his song Run Away is included in the So Rock! Magazine (no. 90).
On August 2nd, 2011, he appeared as a solo artist at one of the Zoomin Nights at D-22. According to Beijing Gig Guide:
His solo experimental work, as can be expected, sounds nothing like Carsick Cars. It was definitely more melodic than Soviet Pop (the experimental side group of the rest of the original Carsick Cars), and he was also quite performative for an experimental artist. Though I wouldn’t say I could get up and dance to it, his set had a great beat and was definitely more cohesive than some of the experimental stuff I’ve heard lately.[1]
