Dzap Dau Dau , all-female punk from Hong Kong, formerly known as M2R (featured on "God Save The Canto Pop Compilation CD)


History

Dzap Dau Dau, a PUNK band hails from Hong Kong, China. These girls have been around since 1996. In the early days, they had a different name “M2R” and a different line-up. They released their first single “Life” in “God Save The Canto Pop” compilations, released by Music Communication and performed in numerous music festivals in Taiwan, Macau and Guang Zhou.

However, in the year of 2000, the relationship between the band members turn sour and the band was forced to regroup, with a new name called “Dzap Dau Dau” (Pick Up Beans).

The band first EP album “Pick Up Beans” was released in 2001. With the new album released, Dzap Dau Dau was given a slot in the “Beijing vs. Hong Kong girls Band” program hosted by “Beijing MTV Channel”. To further promote their EP, DDD went for a China tour performed in major cities like Wuhan, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

In between 2000 to 2004, the band has performed in Taiwan’s “Spring Scream Music Festival” and in year 2002, they spend one month to tour around Taipei, Kao Xiong and Tai Chung.

Early 2004, DDD was invited to perform in “Hua Yi Music Festival” in Singapore. In April, the band spend another half month to tour Taiwan and also performed in the Spring Scream Music Festival. The Band also performed in Hong Kong music festival “Rockit Hong Kong Music Festival”.

The band’s debut album “Dog Days” was released on 18 July 2005.
